The new top is a vast improvement functionally and esthetically from the original. It still makes that funny noise when you drink, though.

The bottles are great. We have had some for at least 4 years and though some are dented, they are as great as ever. We aren't very satisfied with the metal lids (which we use to avoid any exposure to plastic). The quality of the metal lids has really declined since these were first introduced. Some of the newer ones cross-thread on our older bottles. In addition, you must really put them on tight to avoid leaking in the kid's lunch box, but then we find they can't open them and don't end up drinking their water. The metal lids separate fairly easily (plastic top separates from metal body), and can't be run through the dishwasher or submerged. Would like an all-metal 1-piece cap (at whatever price) that fits well, has sufficient mass that kids can grip it for opening, and that can go through the dishwasher. We have endless trouble with caps and it seems each time we order some more, they quality is less than the last time.

We do not recommend the metal caps be submerged or in the dishwasher for the reason you describe - they separate. I know part of the reason there is no full stainless steel cap is the cost and production issues. However, they're working on improving the design and functionality. We'll keep you posted!

I take my Klean Kanteen with me wherever I go. The 27 oz is much better than the smaller 18 oz, which seemed to be too small to quench my thirst and travel needs. The bigger one has done the trick!

The addition of the Klean Kanteen to my life has not only facilitated my personal well being (through consistent access to hydration while on-the-go) but has also kept me from contributing to unnecessary plastic consumption.

This is a good run-of-the-mill stainless water bottle. The same one is marketed by many different retailers. However, I purchased this one because Greenfeet also offered a sport-top which allows one to drink from the bottle without having to unscrew the cap. The air intake valve is a bit noisy when drinking; but the sport top is a real plus when biking or driving.
