While on my recent first visit to New York City I was on the lookout for a souvenir that stood well above the standard fare of "I heart NY" t-shirts and Statue of Liberty keychains, a real "insider's" souvenir. The whole time I was there I didn't see anything that scratched my itch. On my last day in NYC I belatedly recalled reading about the Anthora coffee cup on Boing Boing. With time running out, I buzzed a couple tourist traps, with no luck. I resolved to order one online when I got home, and so I did.
The product did not disappoint. It is the souvenir of New York City that I would have bought if I had seen it while I was there. Enough said.

I lived in Manhattan, briefly, in my early twenties and drank from the paper version of this cup nearly every day. Now I'm in the Midwest and I have a little smile/wave of nostalgia each time I use this cup.

The cup itself is solidly constructed. Though there is no handle, the sides don't get hot enough to burn me. I have really enjoyed having them in my household.

As a former New Yorker, this cup was on everyone's desk in the morning. (pre-Starbucks). A great piece of nostalgia. The only caveat is that the cup can become very hot. Awww, just wrap a napkin around it.
